By matching supply to demand, MEF ensures high quality shell eggs are available at all times of the year on the retail shelf at stable prices. In Manitoba, we produce just over 11% of Canada's egg supply. Manitoba Egg Farmers are among the most efficient in Canada. The price farmers receive for the eggs at the farm is determined by a formula which uses the average cost of production over a given period plus a fair return. The processing market is a growing sector of the egg industry. There are several processors in Manitoba; Burnbrae Farms Fermes, Inovatech Egg Products Inc. and Trilogy Egg Products Inc. Inovatech Egg Products Inc. is the largest egg processor in the country. MEF has pioneered new relationships with egg processors to develop markets for specialized products and open new opportunities. Cooperation among farmers, processors and consumers has fostered greater market responsiveness giving MEF a clear sense of direction for the future of Manitoba's egg industry.
